Description

Toast is recruiting on behalf of this company for a Lead Software Engineer to help revolutionize the future of electronics design using AI. This company’s platform accelerates hardware design for over 1.5 million engineers worldwide, enabling the creation of cutting-edge products such as drones, electric cars, and VR headsets. As a key contributor, you’ll lead technical direction, ship impactful features, and shape a platform that is rapidly scaling. This hybrid position is based in the Bay Area, offering a blend of in-office collaboration and flexibility.

 

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Full-Stack Development: Work across the stack (PostgreSQL, Python, Django, JavaScript, HTML, CSS) to enhance the platform, build AI-driven tools, and improve workflows.
  • Platform Evolution: Develop and optimize the recommendation engine, improve search functionality, and elevate user engagement to create a platform engineers love.
  • Architectural Decisions: Drive key technical and architectural choices, ensuring scalability and efficiency as the platform grows.
  • AI Integration: Lead integration of AI-powered tools, enabling users to design hardware smarter and faster.
  • Collaboration and Mentorship: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor engineers, and foster a culture of innovation.
  • Recruitment and Team Building: Play a pivotal role in hiring and assembling a world-class software engineering team.




Requirements

 

Essentials:

  • Experience: 5+ years in full-stack software engineering, with expertise in high-throughput web applications (Django preferred) and solid frontend skills (JavaScript, HTML, CSS).
  • Leadership: Proven ability to influence technical direction, mentor engineers, and make impactful design decisions.
  • Pragmatism: Commitment to writing clean, efficient code while shipping quickly and iterating fast.
  • Teamwork: Strong collaboration skills and excitement about contributing to a growing team.
  • Location: Availability to work hybrid (3 days per week) in the Bay Area.
 

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with AI integration and enthusiasm for working at the intersection of AI and hardware.
  • Background in electrical engineering or circuit design tools.
  • Experience as a founding or early-stage engineer in a startup.
  • Proficiency with modern frameworks like React, Vue, or Angular.
