With strong funding and industry recognition, this company is expanding its engineering team and is looking for a Tech Lead to drive technical excellence, scalability, and best practices.
As a Tech Lead, you will be a senior member of the Technology team, responsible for tackling complex technical challenges, optimizing performance, and mentoring engineers. You will play a key role in shaping architecture, driving best practices, and ensuring the platform scales effectively as the company grows. This role requires deep expertise in Ruby on Rails, infrastructure, data engineering, and observability tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain scalable, secure software architectures that align with business objectives.
- Introduce and implement best practices around object-oriented programming (OO), domain-driven design (DDD), and microservices where appropriate.
- Bridge the gap between application development and infrastructure, leveraging APMs and observability platforms to optimize performance and set quantitative benchmarks.
- Implement and enforce coding standards and best practices to improve code quality and maintainability.
- Conduct regular code reviews, providing constructive feedback to enhance software performance and reduce bugs.
- Facilitate communication between development teams, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure technical alignment.
- Leverage application data, third-party data, and data warehouses to drive insights, improve product impact, and optimize performance.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience with Ruby on Rails in production environments.
- Hands-on experience deploying AWS resources, RDS, queues, and serverless solutions.
- Strong knowledge of APM tools (e.g., Datadog, Sentry, or other observability platforms) for performance monitoring and optimization.
- Expertise in data engineering, including complex SQL queries, optimization, and ETL processes.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience working with data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Prefect) and BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Metabase, Looker).
- Mastery of software fundamentals: SOLID coding principles, domain-driven design, performance optimization, and testing.
- Experience leading projects related to scale, concurrency, queuing, background processing, and third-party data ingestion.
- Strong security mindset, with familiarity in OWASP, secure development practices, and SOC-2 processes.

- Experience with B2B SaaS products and integrations (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce).
- Background in FinTech, payroll systems, or financial services.
